I've got a few funny tales to tell, friends saw this with his own eyes.

instant noodles on sale.
hordes rushing to buy in bulk, and theres on one carton left on the shelf. guy pushes pass some people to get to the last carton, in his brute haste, he knock over a girl who was also trying to get to the last carton of instant noodles, and the girl's boyfriend fought with the guy in the instant noodles isle....

my own experience, long lines at the check out counter in a supermarket. when this happens its very hard to get pass those lines, around 10 of them, to get to the other side of the supermarket, I saw an opening and was trying to push my cart pass that opening to get pass one line, this other lady (wander if i should call her lady) saw me pushing my cart towards the opening, she quickly run with her cart and block that opening thinking i was going to line up and gave me a nasty look.... I mean, I have like one item in my cart, common sense would tell you I was not going to line up....

Another incident isn't in a retail store, its in a local fast food restaurant, not mcdonald or kentucky, don't eat those anyway, we ordered, I asked for a cup of plain water because i finished my fizzy drinks, and I don't want to order another, the waitress told me they don't serve plain water, if I want, I have to get a bottle of plain water for 2-3 bucks, so I kindly say no to that offer, I just needed a tiny sip. After a while, the gentleman, a foreigner/tourist behind my table ask for a glass of plain water, and what do you know, he got it, with ice and straw and serve with a smile.... talk about getting racist treatment in your own country.... I am thinking that waitress is now typing in a forum talking about her bad experience of getting a very bad scolding from me.

I work in retail as a sales rep and I always say 'can i help you with anything?' while people really don't want help at the moment, yet they come back and need help later. I find that kind of shady. So, I realized instead of saying 'can I help you' I say now 'do you like what you see', because either it starts a conversation or they are just not good conversationalists. Plus, it tells a lot about the customer.

Had a fairly WTF incident indirectly - my music teacher has been a long time customer of a particular bookshop that specialises in, well, selling music books. She gets discounts, they know her (they're not a very big bookshop and I believe they are family run), and they get a good customer because she orders books for her students from them.

Anyway, one day after my music lesson, she was ranting to me about how the service had gone down lately, and told me to try calling them to inquire about the price of a new book. I was like, eh, well, I have the time, OK - called them, and the call went something along this line:

Voice: *irritated mumble* Hello?!
Me: Hi, I'm calling to inquire about the price of this book - *reads off title*
No verbal response, only the sound of the phone being put down somewhere on a surface. He didn't end the call, though - I could hear shuffling noises.
Voice: That's - *mumble $7.45.
Me: *barely making out anything past the mumble* I'm sorry, you said $7.45?
Voice: *annoyed* $7.45!
Me: Alright, thank -
*sound of phone being slammed down.

It turns out the boss was away on a business trip and the fellow was a temp, but still...
